We don’t need to be an Elephant Artist to make great change. In fact, it is the opposite. Elephant Artists are overstuffed with common plays. They prefer to reinstate the past than challenge the future. They stagnate art through repeating what works and neglecting what doesn’t.
Termite Artists are the opposite. They challenge our expectations and push art forward. They silently change the way we see the world by asking why, again and again. They don’t settle for what works. They pursue what is fresh and full of surprise.
Elephant Artists ask what the world wants. Termite Artists ask what makes them come alive. The difference is that the Termite Artists listened when Howard Thurman said, “Don’t ask what what the world wants. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive”.
